Construction Company Website Design: London Design Build Case Study

Focus Keyword: construction company website design

Construction company website design plays a critical role in premium residential markets, where clients often judge credibility before making contact. For London Design Build, the objective was to create a digital experience that reflected the same level of care, precision, and quality found in its built work.

Category: Website Design · Visual Direction
Duration: Ongoing (Current Role at Extension Architecture)
Role: Layout, Visual Direction, Web Design
Status: In Development · Launching Q3 2026
Deliverables: Website Design · Visual System · Component Library · Photography Direction · Mobile Experience · Navigation Architecture · Lead Generation Flow

The Challenge

London Design Build had strong project photography but a website that failed to communicate the quality of the firm’s work. Images lacked impact, navigation felt generic, and the enquiry experience introduced unnecessary friction.

The goal was to create a construction company website design that felt architectural, editorial, and highly considered while improving usability and lead generation.

Process

Photography First

Photography became the foundation of the design system.

Projects are presented at full scale with generous spacing, allowing the interiors and craftsmanship to carry the experience rather than competing with interface elements.

A photography direction framework was also established to maintain consistency across future content.

Editorial Layout

Layouts alternate between full-width imagery and structured content compositions, creating a rhythm inspired by architecture and interiors publications rather than conventional construction websites.

This approach helps the work feel curated rather than templated.

Visual System

The visual language was intentionally restrained:

  • Warm neutral palette

  • Deep slate tones

  • Refined serif typography

  • Minimal interaction accents

  • No unnecessary decoration or motion

The objective was to create a system that supports the content rather than drawing attention to itself.

Process-Led Services

Services were reframed as a four-stage journey rather than a traditional list of offerings, helping communicate expertise through structure and storytelling.

Navigation & Mobile

Navigation was simplified to four primary destinations:

  • Projects

  • Process

  • About

  • Contact

Every layout was designed mobile-first, with special attention given to image presentation, typography scaling, and touch interactions.

The enquiry flow was streamlined with fewer fields and clearer expectations, reducing friction for prospective clients.

Current Status

The project is currently in active development and scheduled to launch in Q3 2026.

Expected outcomes include:

  • Improved mobile engagement

  • Increased enquiry completion rates

  • Significantly larger photography presentation

  • Documented visual system for future scalability

  • Reduced navigation complexity across the site

Key Takeaway

The strongest construction company website design doesn’t oversell—it demonstrates capability through clarity, restraint, and presentation quality.

For London Design Build, the website was designed to let the work speak for itself, creating a digital experience that feels as considered and intentional as the spaces the company builds.
