How reducing visual noise can dramatically improve user experience and conversion rates for digital products.

Complexity is rarely a feature — it is the residue of decisions postponed. Every extra option you put on screen is a question you are forcing the user to answer.

Start by hiding nothing — then earn back what stays

List every element on the screen. Beside each, write the job it does today. Anything that cannot defend its own square footage in plain English gets cut. The remaining elements are now your real interface.

Simplicity is not the goal. Clarity is. Simplicity is just the side effect.

Group by intent, not by data shape

Designers often inherit grouping from the database. Users do not think in tables — they think in jobs. Re-group by what they are trying to accomplish, then arrange the data to match.

Done well, simplification is invisible. People rarely notice an interface that just works — and that is the whole point.
